3" Rusty Squirrel Vinylmation (Cutester Kid redesign)

Here is my take on redesigning the 3" Squirrel Cutester Kid Vinylmation. Had lots of fun doing this! I just wanted to give him a rusty robotic look. So I used a silver metallic base color, then a bronze for his chest and hair. Used some orange and brown for the drippy rusted areas and gave him some oil on the face. The tail is from another action figure. Thought it would look cool as a steam punk kinda tail.  The factory produced Cutester Kid is on the left.

9" Andrew Ryan (Bioshock) Vinylmation (SOLD)

This Vinylmation was inspired by the events of Bioshock and its head honcho, Andrew Ryan. He was painted using Liquitex and Citadel acrylic paints. His golf club is a wooden dowel that was stained, then I sculpted the club and handle with Aves Apoxie. Starting with the front of the vinyl, I wanted to use Mr. Ryan's basic design from the game. So I gave him a suit with an embroidered "R" handkerchief, shirt and tie, polished dress shoes, and of course his little mustache. The Mickey heads are a little tricky for designing human faces on I think, since they are a bit chubby. So I tried to thin it out with some shadowing on the sides. For the front of the ears I made a sort of bronzed sign that reads 1959, symbolizing the New Year's party that went a little...wrong. Onto the back of the vinyl. For his body I knew I wanted to try my hand at painting the sculpture of "The Great Chain". I used browns and some shiny bronze paint to make certain areas pop out a bit more. On his feet I painted a similar "skyline" of the Bioshock logo - silhouettes of buildings in Rapture. Added some bubbles for a little underwater effect. The back of the head is Andrew Ryan's "death mask". A little bloody and rugged for a Mickey, but I love how it turned out. Ocean water surrounds the mask. The back of the left ear stands for Rapture - the underwater city Andrew Ryan thought up. The back of the right ear is a certain achievement you get in the game. A golf club comes in handy here. Finally, a couple shots of Andrew Ryan and everyone's favorite loon artist, Sander Cohen, discussing prices of imported plaster around the water cooler.

3" Yoshi Suit Super Mario Vinylmation (SOLD)

Here is my third Mario Suit Vinylmation.  I decided I'd dress Mario as his beloved dino friend, Yoshi.  I don't think it was a wearable suit in any of the Mario games, but I know you could ride on Yoshi's back in a few of them.  But I thought it would be cool to add to my series of suits!  I consciously left out Yoshi's pupils so it didn't seem like Mario was wearing something he just caught in a bear trap.

Using Aves Apoxie I sculpted Yoshi's head, tongue, eyes, scales, saddle shell, and tail.  I painted the Mickey ears to look like Yoshi eggs.  And I know Yoshi doesn't wear gloves, but I kept the white gloves to match the rest of the Mario Suit set.  Now to think of more suits....
