6" Mechanical Mickey Vinylmation

I was going for a simple, but fun mechanical design here.  This custom is a mash up of different toy parts.  I used a 3" pink blank Vinylmation, a McFarlane Creech figure I got for a buck, and various smaller toy parts.  When all was said and done, this figure measured in at 5 and 7/8".   

STEP 1 - Chop Shop
I did some operating on the Creech figure, and discarded his upper body.  Then off with Mickey's feet!  A razor blade, kitchen knife and hair dryer are my tools of choice here. 

STEP 2 - Assembly and Sculpt
Next I glued the parts together, and connected a robotic arm (still movable) and waited for everything to dry.  Then I sculpted everything you see in white to add some robotic looking features.  Thought a pop of orange would break things up, so Mech Mickey is holding a glowing orange rock.

STEP 3 - Paint Apps & Clear Coat
After waiting 24 hours for the apoxie sculpt to cure, I took this metal hunk of Mickey outside to paint.  I used 2 coats of Krylon Chrome spray paint over the entire figure.  I waited another 48 hours before I took him back outside to spray him with a couple coats of Krylon Crystal Clear (flat).

3" Elephant Temple Vinylmation (fully sculpted) $150

This is my version of an ancient temple, Vinylmation-style!

When originally discovered, the head of this temple was almost completely overgrown and covered in twisting jungle. Those who found it assumed it was some variation of a Mayan temple because of it's step-like silhouette. It wasn't until the head was restored to its original construction that it was realized they had discovered a whole new people. These people revered elephants as their sole providing deity. They had constructed this temple in honor of all that the Elephant provided them. Although the tribe of this area migrated over time, the grey gods still hold their ground, protecting the structure to this day as one of their own.

I used a blank pink 3" Vinylmation for this project.
Everything was sculpted and painted by myself.

9" Haunted Mansion Pumpkin King Vinylmation (SOLD -commissioned)

Here's another commission I made for a great client.  She asked for a 9" Pumpkin King Vinylmation that could be seen in the Haunted Mansion.  So she decided on the ghostly grey/green color scheme similar to one used by artist Miss Mindy.  I used a provided 9" purple vinyl. 

The head was painted to mimic the 3" NBC Pumpkin King.  I left a little purple on the ears for a little effect.  Added in some spider webs to show age.

For the body, I painted a tuxedo.  The bow tie is all sculpted on with Aves Apoxie to look like a skull.  Added some more spider webs on the hand and shoes.  Even threw in a few hidden Mickeys!

Dexter DDK Doomsday Killer Professor James Gellar

Here's the thing.  I absolutely LOVE the series Dexter.  So I figured I'd make some customs of characters.  I might do a series of killers from the show, possibly other main characters also.  Here is my first shot at a Dexter character.  He is Professor James Gellar.  Also known as The Doomsday Killer (DDK)!  I used a Battlestar Galactica head with a body from another figure.  I hand sculpted his hair, white hot rebar, a little more stomach, and paintbrush with Aves Apoxie.  The base is from McFarlane Toys and I think the pillar is a Freddy Kreugar piece.  I painted his rebar rod from silver, to red hot, then to the extreme white hot.  You don't want to be on the wrong end of that thing, right Travis?
